OnSong 2020 App Reviews

Really disappointed

I have an app that Ive been very happy with called "Songbook." It will display songs in landscape with a split screen so a long song will has all its lyrics on one screen without having to scroll. OnSong will not. Also, when creating custom colors for chords, the tint bar will not move from clear to dark so you cant create custom colors. Also, when viewing a song, you cant just scroll to the next song alphabetically like Songbook allows. Also, Songbook backs up all of the songs in its database as individual files (Chordpro) and its very convenient for transfers, etc. oh well, I hope Someone is listening and will tweak this app.

Onsong

Very pleased with this App. Support team - excellent

Very disappointed

This started out to be a good app but its more trouble than its worth anymore. They must have gotten too big for themselves. The customer service is no longer there and there are many bugs with this app.. They had me purchase chromecast and it works fine with everything but onsong. To bad, everything is sell, sell, sell for them now. Ill be using Songbook moving forward....

Angry

On song updated and wiped out my entire songs!!! I am a praise and worship leader and have been using on song and as of today I will be deleting this app and moving to a more reliable app!!!

Great app and support

Just stared using onsong great app and when Ive had questions Jamie has helped me greatly

Loaded with Features

Tried Onsong before and dont remember liking it. I think I was going through a plain text phase at the time. Gave it another look and am pleased to find many useful features like instant transposing, chord diagrams, metadata tags like Flow for customizing the order of song sections... Havent even gotten into the more advanced goodies like backing tracks, wireless sharing with the band, etc. All songs are stored in a single SQLite file but the export options for other formats and cloud sync support (eg. Dropbox) are great! Going through my catalog now and enjoying the process of formatting songs for Onsong. The only thing that has bugged me so far is the screen scrolling by itself while I am editing. Not a fan of auto-scrolling. And there is a bit of a lag when editing text but its not a deal breaker. The customer support and effort to continuously update is much appreciated!

OnSong is my sidekick

Ive played about 200 shows with OnSong, maybe more. It has never let me down during a performance. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that almost every time Apple updates their IOS, my bluetooth foot pedal stops talkinig to OnSong. Ive developed the habit of testing it a few nights before a show so I can update OnSong in time. The customer service is responsive and personal, and they update as soon as they can. Ive used other apps in the past, but this is the best one. I love that I can resize the song on my screen to help my old eyes, particularly in venues with bad light.

The Best of its kind!

Ive used this now for 1 year and gave nothing but praise for it. Its incredible how it has improved my game (music performance). To the goof who lost his data after an update? Are you kidding? You would spend hours building your files and not store them on Dropbox or something similar? Haha, its so easy to save your song files that I truly have no sympathy for you. Always backup your important files, everybody knows this. OK, I am done here. If you perform music by yourself or with a group and carry around a big old funky notebook with pages all askew, do yourself a favor and get OnSong. Welcome to the 21st Century and thank you OnSong!!!

Working musician

Ive been using OnSong instead of a bulky 3ring binder for years. Never had a problem!! I cant speak for the functionality of the pedals or the midi features, but as a song book that doubles as a lesson book with its vast chord fingerings for multiple instruments and as a backlit zoomable lyric sheet it is irreplaceable. And if my iPad dies my phone has all my songs on it backed up from the cloud. Even on Gen2 old iPad with over 500 songs of every kind of file format there is no waiting on a song or list to open. If you are a professional and wondering if its worth the money it is! It does so much more now than when I bought it so...Thank you OnSong for the increasing value of your great product.

the best thing since sliced bread

I was bringing tablets ,books of my words with chord notes rearranging them before shows ...I love this app ...I can bring my ipad and thats it ...it lets me import my tracks using the Alesis I/O dock ....couldnt ask for a better product .......keep up the good work

Could you cut the registration ads?

Its a good app and everything but I didnt pay 20 bucks to have the app ask me for my email every time I open it

Definitely worth it.

OnSong has been a solid app I have used since it first came out. I started and never looked back...4 years now I believe. Going paperless was my goal ultimately, but there are so many features and I have only just begun to realize how much this app can do. Customer service is extremely responsive as well. Solid app.

Buggy

Love this App and I use it daily. Please fix the bugs with notes especially! I make notes and mark up music constantly. Its frustrating to open a file and the notes are not where I wrote them down. Instead, they are randomly scattered around the page.

Under. Impressed.

Wow. I should never have paid this much for an app like this. My bad. Id assumed too much when I saw all its "import" options. No. if you want to take advantage of the transposition capability, you still have to do the hard work yourself. I am willing to overlook the poor GUI / lack of design aesthetic, but thus far its too much work on the front end to make this worth $20 plus in app purchases.

Hate it

Cant get passed the opening setup screen. What a waste of money

Formatting problems

Generally, I like OnSong. The transposition feature is really handy and I like the low light mode. What I dont like are the ongoing formatting problems. I recently purchased Console, on the advice of someone from OnSong, to solve this problem. The problem continues. Basically, what you see on your editing screen does not always match up with the actual chart. Sometimes I have to insert several spaces just to get one space. The chords bunch up so the chart is very hard to read. These are charts created (from the beginning, not imported) on my iPad or in Console (and using the required fonts). Sometimes it works fine, sometimes no.

From a gigging solo artist

This app is an absolute life saver! Having hundred of songs perfectly formatted and easily accessible and legible is priceless. Not to mention OnSong works flawlessly with my airturn. My gigs have never been more fun!

Singer

In general I love the app. It is a little frustrating that the integration to Mac Book is not inclusive with the iPad. I dont want to have to buy the console for the Mac Book Pro in order to work on my songs. THe IPAD app works great and is helpful during performances when necessary. Overall, I love it.

Greatful user

Without doubt the best thing to happen to music since strings for my guitar. Absolutely love it, use it everyday and each day it gets better. Great support, this is how software programs are supposed to be. I have several friends currently using it, and I will continue to promote same to everyone I play music with. In case you haven’t figured it out I like it.

A Must Have!

Ive been enjoying this app for well over 5 years now. I am a musician and perform at local venues on a regular basis. Onsong has been a God send for me. I have been able to free myself from the confines of song books and chord charts. All of my material is now neatly arranged on my iPad. No more clothes pins on windy days, no more torn pages! I have seamlessly transferred my entire library to new iPads two times without so much as a hiccup. You will not find better customer service anywhere in the App Store. This program is a must have for performing artists. I literally have had zero issues in 5 years of continuous use. Get this app and you can search for lyrics, import lyrics, transcribe chording, edit, copy and pasted effortlessly! Of course, there is a small learning curve, but you are not alone. Countless tutorial videos are at your disposal, along with unending customer service. I promise you.....you will not regret purchasing this app. It has taken me to an entirely different level!
